Des Hiring

Sun belt schools in the recent past have hired coaches like Kurt Cignetti, Jon Summeral, Chesney, among others. How does Des compare to those? I wonder how many schools have targeted Des as an improvement over their current coach. Can’t imagine the list is long. Des was given a new stadium and the program has managed to have even less momentum than before.

Could you even imagine him as a coordinator at another G5 school? I can't.

he would never seek out another place to coach or go unless fired from Louisiana - Robe - so fantasizing or postulating about it is futile - Louisiana has made its bed and must sleep in it - however it has been shown in this thread that the bed is not at all what has been projected by a vocal few here who were not satisfied with the decisions of Louisiana in the hire of DES as head coach - but it must always be remembered that we should not be here condemning DES for his hire but trying to find ways to assist and support him since he is our coach and will be our coach at least for the relatively near future - Fair?

Besides some of his panic first half play calling, I don't have a problem with coach D.

I'm mad at how the handling of the hire killed any hope of NIL fundraising.

Well, they aren't coaching against each other tonight so I'm not sure and since you rarely have an actual point its up to us to assume.

Call it what you want but Louisiana has always been on the D1 team and is in danger of losing it's relevance with its no effort hirings and status quo conference stance. Just like NIL, Des is not the problem, how he was hired was a symptom.

Going through the motions is like jogging through practice while everyone else is running full‑speed drills. Keep that pace long enough, and you won’t just lose the game, you’ll lose your spot on the team.

Bottom line: NO ONE - NO.ONE - knows what might have happened or who might have been hired if a real search would have been conducted.

Heck, Des STILL could have been the hire.
But we all should know one thing: We will never know because a real search was never conducted

Pete golding, possibly but any of you who think we would have beat Oregon out for Lanning kind of lose all credibility. Hopefully some of you just don’t realize he was hired that same year.
