just a little reminder that Des was SBC Coach of the Year last year! Hard to imagine he can win that award every year but this past year may have been his best year coaching thus far to get us to a bowl after a 2-6 start.

It is unbelievable how DES gets all the credit for the bad and NONE of the credit for the good - not to many 10 win seasons or Coach of the Year honors in the entire history of Louisiana football and none with the adverse market conditions imposed upon a G6 school LIKE Louisiana from the effects of NIL and free portal transfer - OUT - free portal transfer out for schools similarly situated to Louisiana
Besides, how many up and coming coaches, even if they were identified, would have been jumping through hoops to coach at Louisiana who was struggling financially, run by an administration with little support for athletics and with virtually no NiL support?
If we are going to have the conversation, let’s at least have ALL of the actual facts, limitations and financial considerations in play . . .
Sun belt schools in the recent past have hired coaches like Kurt Cignetti, Jon Summeral, Chesney, among others. How does Des compare to those? I wonder how many schools have targeted Des as an improvement over their current coach. Can’t imagine the list is long. Des was given a new stadium and the program has managed to have even less momentum than before.
Call it what you want but Louisiana has always been on the D1 team and is in danger of losing it's relevance with its no effort hirings and status quo conference stance. Just like NIL, Des is not the problem, how he was hired was a symptom.
Going through the motions is like jogging through practice while everyone else is running full‑speed drills. Keep that pace long enough, and you won’t just lose the game, you’ll lose your spot on the team.
