evidence that no matter the search and no matter the hire there would still be issue and birching manifested here about the Louisiana hire for football head coach - I guess the powers that be knew, saved the money and time, and swang for the stars with the DES hire

I totally agree, no way. Not that it would be needed.

On the other side of the coin, this job was super attractive at the time, and I think they could have gotten someone with HC experience from two different ranks.

1) Someone who had won before at D1. Not my fave because they don't know how to win with a small budget.

2) An up and comer from DII that knows how to win with a small budget. Louisiana could have found that with less outlay than they gave Desormeaux.

No doubt in my mind.

Or they could have gotten another guy in the Napier mold and went after an up and coming coordinator. We did our due diligence on that hire and he emerged as a name they said we needed to talk to and it worked out.

Had we done things like this and interviewed and reached out to other candidates and Des was still the guy they felt was the best after that, so be it. I know it would sit a lot easier with people had we done that.
