Louisiana Men's Basketball opens the 2026 portion of its schedule on Saturday when it plays host to Sun Belt Conference rival Southern Miss at the Cajundome.

Tipoff is scheduled for 12 p.m. The game will be available on ESPN+

At first glance, UL’s doubleheader Saturday in the Cajundome may seem like a futile exercise.

After all, the men’s team is 3-12 and 1-2 in the Sun Belt after Wednesday’s home loss to South Alabama, while the women are 1-12 and 0-3 after a blowout home loss to Troy.

At least play the WBB at noon and MBB at 3.

Nevermind, its more important to get 10 people to stay for the 3 game, than to have 100 more show up if it was MBB.

Need to simply drop WBB, it is only a hinderance. Replace with beach volleyball, $2 Natty and Louisiana co-eds in the sand.

Not one single Saturday night home game in conference play. I’m guessing this is for cost saving purposes since the traveling team wouldn’t have to spend money to board another night.

It’s safe to say you’d at least lose less $ with that.

I can imagine regular volleyball doesn’t lose as much as WBB. E K Long is typically much fuller than the Dome on a given game.

Beach volleyball would attract some attention, for sure. Especially from certain students.
