    UNO had an enrollment > 17,000 in 2004.

    Katrina and an opportunistic flagship, deadly combo. I wonder had UNO been in the UL System prior to Katrina, if they would have rebounded. Seems like a major fumble by the city, state, and their university leaders.

    UNO demonstrates the value of Athletic advertising.

    In 2025 enrollment numbers are 5,660

    Pre Katrina 17,400
    Post Katrina 6,684 (1000 more than today)

    However, besides the catastrophe, the real decline began after athletic year 2010.

    By 2010 enrollment at UNO had rebounded to 11,276

    Then their president decided to save money on advertising and lower athletic advertising expenses by dropping out of SunBelt and into money saving Southland.

    That began the precipitous drop to what we see today. 5,660

    Out of sight out of mind.
