The word about the NEZ Scoreboard, back in the 2002 season was that a Judge donated a mill for it. That was the "word". Prob 4 times that. A good mktg tool would be to have it incur some unique or novel issue and use it to our advantage, ex. someone forgot to turn it off and now there's this outline of an alligator burned into it or the Don't tread on Me album cover.
Cant remember which MLB franchise did it but a board took a lic and it it ran thereon with that "digital square" blacked out. Coors Light (at the time) now a Miller company, ran with it, didn't fix it but instead did it to their packaging as well.
