Then along came "everyone gets a trophy" and the era of "I need compensation to participate" began.

So true and oh so sad! College has become semi-pro, which is not what it is supposed to be.

There are 129 FCS (div 1) college football schools. With today's take on "everyone gets a trophy", there should be 64 bowl games. That would leave only 1 team not playing in a bowl game. But heck, I'm sure they would get a trophy also. I mean, if you are going to have 5-7 teams playing in a bowl game, you might as well include 1-11's as well....

Lol...one could argue in that scenario it would actually be harder to be the 1 that didnt make the bowl. Reminds me of the lottery, often when i am reading my zero correct numbers, I think, there should be a payout for zero instead of those that get 3 or 4 numbers, it is way harder to get zero

I’ve been critical of the administration and Dez, but I’ll say this, the current NIL and no sit portal stuff has dinged our program. Especially when we can’t find NIL dollars because in this state you’re a “loser” if you don’t give your money to LSU.

I hope Zeon Chriss and Harvey Broussard are passing meaningful classes at UofH, because they’re still sitting the bench and getting zero looks from the NFL. Better pocket that $200k they’re going to make over the next couple years, pay their taxes (you get double taxed on SS/FICA with 1099s), and are ready to hit the real world work force soon.

In the last 20 years college football went from having too few bowl games to a glut of mediocre bowl games plus playoff games. Returning to minimum winning record for becoming bowl eligible probably results in trimming off about six bowl games. We'd hardly miss them. Maybe a few 6-6 teams sneak in every year but eliminates the 5-7 teams. Its not hard to make it so winning teams are not left out of a bowl consideration.
