College Football is now worse than the NFL, imo. There is no draft, there is no salary cap, there are no contracts to hold players to AND there is yearly free agency. Imagine how chaotic the NFL would be with yearly free agency. Franchise values would plummet because the predictability goes out the window and the product would suffer.

I don’t know of a good, REALISTIC way to save college athletics, at this point. Perhaps having the athletes become employees is an option, but don’t see that ending well either.

I was kind of thinking of something along the lines of Title IX for NIL. The amount of money spent on women’s NIL would have to equal the money spent on men’s NIL. So, you’re not ‘limiting’ what someone can make necessarily. Just a thought.

I bet nfl players (well at least minor league baseball players) probably even take more classes

They didn’t have on the field success, but they had financial success. 90% of the players who transferred out aren’t going to go pro, but they succeeded in maximizing the amount of money they could make while in college.

Not a perfect analogy, but who is more successful, the person who is a star at a non-profit pulling down $50k/year or the individual contributor who is just a number at some large company where no one knows their name making $125k/year.

A bench warmer in a 90,000 seat stadium is no more seen than a fan in the stands. Which is ironic because that is the only reason there are 90,000 in the stands. They are there to be seen. Which they are not.

13,000 seeing "you" is actually the better scenario.

"ultimately being an undrafted free agent after thr NFL draft" is the better option.

As far as student life goes, I can't comment on unknown schools.

Especially since these big boys/blue bloods have ao much "support staff' on the sidelines blocking the benchwarmers view

All these great ideas, plans, schemes, etc.....but the big hurdle and question is how do you attract and retain players with NO money? Again UL has no money and the deficit is worse than previously stated! On top of that no to very little money coming in, stadium half empty, aging fan base who has somewhat carried the fundraising are slowly dying out.

How did the same institution attract most of the posters on this board with even less "no" money

Why not allow players to "come back" after dipping toe in portal waters...the way ncaa rule states.

I think this hatred and abandoning teammates mantra is long gone. And it could allow Dez to hedge his use of the portsl without looking like he changed his mind on a principle
