Thread: NIL (P4's and the lawyers) have killed the smaller colleges

Default NIL (P4's and the lawyers) have killed the smaller colleges

Look at what our football, men's and women's basketball teams have come to.

This is a sad day in college athletics. NIL - P4's - and the transfer portal have accomplished what they set out to do.

I know not just us, but atleast 80% of the G5's are in a similar situation.

I don't think our lack of success can be blamed entirely on NIL. We are losing to teams that have lower NIL money then we do. You indicate "at least 80% of G5's are in similar situation"--why aren't we having more success in our conference and against G5's? Why did we lose to Jackson State in basketball--their current record is 1-9 (the only team they have beat is us). Basketball has only played one school this year from a P5 conference. Football only played one school this year in a P5 conference. We are not competitive against non P5 schools who have the same challenges as we do with NIL. Using NIL as an excuse is BS. We are getting beat by teams who have less NIL money. Our facilities are on PAR with most non P5 schools. I think the issue comes down to the people recruiting and coaching the players. We need to demand a standard of success and accountability. I acknowledge injuries have impacted both football and basketball but this is something that happens to every team. Can some of these injuries be attributable to our strength and conditioning staff not preparing our players properly? Our average margin of defeat in basketball is 17--with only one P5 team on our schedule--we are not competitive against teams with similar challenges.

Yeah…not buying this complete downfall is just the fault of the P4s. We need to start owning up to our own ____ and stop playing the perpetual victim.

Just an excuse. UL MBB has been spiraling since Evans left. WBB 1 NCAA bid in 50+ years, none this century. Does NIL hurt, yes, but we’re not talking like UL was overall above average in years.

FB biggest issue is a miss on the hire.
