The refs certainly did not help themselves but neither did we. We just play dumb. Defensively, we have it drilled into the players to play "hard" but unfortunately that overflows into just goofy fouls. Evans is prime example. He plays so much defense with his hands he commits just dumb fouls being too aggressive. His fourth foul was 25 feet away from the basket where all he had to do was just hedge and keep the PG there but he puts his hands on him and gets called. We body shooters all the time as well.
We can complain about officiating all day but it's been a common practice of us all year to just play dumb. We take poor shots, we commit way too many fouls we turn the ball over way too much and overall, it doesn't seem like we really have a good basketball IQ on this team.
Planning on bringing 6 family members who are in town for Christmas to the Norfolk State game. Maybe Santa can bring me a gift card to any other experience in town and with that an excuse to pivot.
Seriously, though, what can you even say about the state of our basketball programs? It's such a collective low point that it's almost fruitless to even just break down the play on the court. Bad is bad and it's all just bad.

Despite all this being true, the Cajuns played good defense much of game. USM was cold much of game due to Cajuns pressure on ball. Reason they did not have lead was the terrible shooting. Eagles missed because of Cajuns defense. Cajuns missed because of their ineptitude at putting the ball in the basket. Many Cajun misses occurred on wide open looks.
