………the area of income that is lacking seems to be warm bodies’ enrollment tuition……after The Tulane win last week, there were some big party times as was fitting…..a young California lady was asked why she chose Tulane for her pre med school attendance…….well it was a combo of entertainment/partying and actual academic worth…..it’s been a while for me to ascertain our level at UL for the double dose…..how do we rate on these 2 scales and are they pushed by recruiters……I realize there are other factors such as size, location, friends, etc but how do we get more folks enrolled?

True, says you have to log in to student portal to see how much of fee goes to each club

Not totally sure if research $$ are part of the operating budget as what I read is that they are generally not part of the operating budget. Don't know what generally means or what exceptions that includes. Kind of like the definition of is.

Research funds do add to the general funds via the overhead generated. In fact, at most R1's, this is a significant portion of income - this is also true for UL. Research funds that do not go to the gen-fund typically do support graduate students and to a lesser degree undergraduate students. Finally, to clarify, research is a huge aspect of today's economic development ecosystem. UL has been a key player in Louisiana in this space. If one reviews that top producing/top growing economic regions in the USA, you will see that there is almost always a top research university (or more) in that region.

TV just said shortfall is actually $50 million. So we didn’t know how much we didn’t have. Off by only $25 million. Now I’m worried.

Not sure where they are getting that info, but you fail 3 state audits and do nothing to address findings, president and CFO are forced out, I guess there may something to it. Who knows.

2 different things, a past failed audit doesnt mean future appropriations automatically dry up....
The Pentagon for example has never passed an audit, EVER, and budget grows most years

Boise is better academically than Fun wants us to believe. True they are not R1, but they are a solid R2.

Concerns over the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s budget took center stage during a town hall meeting Thursday at Wharton Hall, where university leaders spoke with faculty, staff and students about ongoing financial challenges and efforts toward recovery
