Thread: Next year starters

I think Lunch will get some good offers. He showed a lot of improvement and command of the offense as the year went along. I think he will bolt if he gets the sense that the coaches think Walker is their guy. These are the same coaches who thought Beale was better than Lunch.

Howard, in limited time, has shown more consistent accuracy than Lunch. So the question around who to start will depend on the type of offense Dez truly wants to run and have as the identity.

I can’t imagine another FBS team that wants their passing game revolving around consistent accuracy would buy Lunch away from us. Now…a team that wants to run an offense like Rice or an offense like Bustle ran with Dez and Fenroy…that such program might be intrigued with Lunch.

Pretty much mop up duty in all of these blowout games. He had 1 catch for 15 yards vs Wisconsin. In my opinion he was our most complete back last year when healthy, did not have the speed of Perry or the power of Bill, but more speed than Bill and more power than Zylan. But it only goes to show the difference between the SEC and the SBC. He made a mistake going to Alabama.
Yes he did. It will throw shade on others looking to do the same, but it will be hard to turn down some cash!

Daniel Beale is like Chris Carter, instead of "all he does is catch touchdowns". "All he throws is interceptions"

I don't know but more money to ride the bench elsewhere is better than just riding the bench here.

The coaches need to assure Lunch that the starting job here is his to lose. Thats the only thing that will offset the money offers he may get elsewhere. Walker isn't going anywhere. He's shot his portal load so to speak.

WTF are you talking about. You are joking right? Walker Howard has been terrible when put in. He was the main reason we lost to RICE! WH is not accurate at all!

    Walker Howard Stats:
    https://www.espn.com/college-footbal.../walker-howard

    18/39 - 155 yards - 46.2% - 3 INTS, NO TDS, 15 carries for 82 yards 1 TD

    Lunch Winfield Stats:
    https://www.espn.com/college-footbal...lunch-winfield

    106 / 182 - 58.8%, 1330 yards, 10 TDs, 6 INT's, 138 carries for 627 yards and 9 TD's.

Lunch Winfield should be told hands down you are our starter for 2026 and we need you to stay for that opportunity to have an even better season with a conference championship and CFP potential berth!

The staff would be downright idiotic to even suggest to Lunch that he may have to "earn" the job this offseason...

So I fully expect that to happen

How soon we forget. Sampson had about 6 drops (and other receivers also) in the Rice game. Both Lunch and Walker are very good.
