I was told a couple of months ago that we had 20+ commitments and that should hold true over the next few days.

Hopefully we can add more as well. We lose a ton of guys off this team and that's before you account for transfers.

Hope they have some gems that they are keeping quiet. What is showing is very lackluster to say the least. 119 on 247 and 120 on on3

Yep, 10 to 11 commits have been reported by 247 and on3 sites for the past 4-5 months. Hope there are a few nice surprises!

I hope they get some good DL. We looked tiny compared to ULM D Line. I’d trade with them right now at all the defensive front potions. That is a recruiting issue that shouldn’t happen here.

Considering ULM out gained UL 516-338, defense has some issues already. Heart is there, but you’re right UL got outmanned size wise most of the year.

Most schools have their classes locked up in the early period. I'm a big Des supporter, but we are a long way from recruiting the football talent of Coach Hud and Coach Napier years.

With NIL and the early signing period, you are only filling gaps with the February signing period.

Remember Coach Des does not like to leverage the transfer portal....so we are what the recruiting rankings say we are.

I would hope we can get back in the top 75 and top three of the SBC. Recruiting rankings are a good indicator (JMU, App, & Troy currently lead rankings with 20+ players committed....direct correlation to SBC standings).

Geaux, both coaches were pre NIL recruiters and Hud got us in trouble with his approach.

App isn't bowl eligible so not correlating to Belt standings. They are recruiting well this year.

I agree with you in that the talent level on paper seems off in comparison to pre CMD days. The size of ULMs line was notable but I think the injuries to our OL and the rest of the team in general this season was the primary factor for our results. I was worried about our lack of size on the DL before the season and that's one area that must be addressed with recruiting from HS and the portal. Let's see what happens over the next few days.
