Not saying being Independent is the way to go, but we could schedule 3-4 P4 schools and get $6M - $8M from just those games which dwarfs what we get now. I know that hasn't worked for most schools and may not work for us. But, our goal would be to use our success to parlay into a better conference as Independent status is not a long term solution but a means to get us to a higher level. Just a thought.

Also have to factor in the $10M we would owe SBC by leaving the conference.

How does a conference that generates less than $2M a year in a school's revenue warrant a $10M payment for leaving? How did the members agree to that?

In this day and age, other than Notre Dame who has a tie in agreement, independent is a death sentence.

At a point when Louisiana should have been scrambling to get out, they were voting to lock themselves in to the tune of five times annual benifits.

Thats like Alabama having to pay $250 million to leave the SEC

With numbers like that, have to look at big picture. Commissioners (past and current) of the SBC apparently with the negotiating skills of a soap dish. And the university presidents had to sign off on the deals. ADs are complicit, but not the final word.

Distribution from who exactly? Is this TV revenue? CFP revenue? NCAA Basketball revenue? Revenue from members who left the conference?

There has to be missing context here. There is absolutely no way C-USA is generating twice as much revenue as the Sun Belt.

My thoughts exactly...if so why are CUSA members paying $5M to leave CUSA for SBC.
