I thought Dez did a nice job in the 2nd half mixing the run and pass. Considering the o line injuries I think he deserves a lot of credit.

Lunch is a gamer and fun to watch. I hope he continues to improve and stays in Cajun uniform.

Des finally got away from running Lunch on first down most of the time the past few weeks.

Hoax will be playing for Pride, best be ready.

  3. UL Football Louisiana Resiliency: Goal-Line Stand Delivers Victory Over A-State, 34-30

Louisiana used a late goal-line stand for the second time in the past three games and kept its postseason goal alive in holding off Arkansas State for a 34-30 victory on Thursday night in a nationally-televised contest at Centennial Bank Stadium.

Lunch Winfield rushed for 89 yards and a pair of scores while Zylan Perry and Bill Davis each added rushing scores as Louisiana (5-6, 4-3 SBC) defeated A-State (5-6, 4-3 SBC) for the eighth time in the past 10 games.

Arkansas State drove 89 yards in the closing minutes, reaching the Louisiana 1 with the clock winding under 10 seconds. The Cajuns' defense, which was on the field for more than 10 minutes in the fourth quarter, stiffened on the final snap as Fitzgerald West Jr. and Terrence Williams stuffed Red Wolves quarterback Jaylen Raynor just shy of the goal line to preserve the win.

Louisiana overcame a sloppy start and trailed 10-0 in the first quarter before Perry's 1-yard TD run cut the deficit to 10-7.

  4. UL Football New-look defense stepped up in victory

In many ways, UL went into Thursday’s 34-30 road victory over Arkansas State blind.

After getting seven players suspended for the postgame fight against Texas State, the biggest impact was in the secondary without safeties Tyree Skipper, Kody Jackson and cornerback Courtline Flowers.

  5. UL Football UL pulls off dramatic road win with goal line stand on final play

A wild and wooly first half eased gave way to a more conventional second half in UL’s 34-30 road victory over Arkansas State on Thursday at Centennial Bank Stadium.

Fortunately for the visiting Ragin’ Cajuns, they managed 10 points after halftime to hold on for the critical road victory that pushed UL to 5-6 on the season.

  6. UL Football Louisiana football vs Arkansas State final score, highlights

Louisiana football was on the road again and with its back against the wall in Week 13 of the 2025 season Thursday.

The Ragin’ Cajuns' (5-6, 4-3 SBC) trip to Jonesboro, Arkansas, held a lot of weight as they hunt bowl eligibility. The Cajuns and Red Wolves played a thriller that came down to the final few seconds. With their backs against their end zone in the closing moments, the Cajuns kept Arkansas State from scoring to escape with a 34-30 victory.

  7. UL Football Ragin’ Cajuns SHOCK Arkansas State with Epic Stand, Jaylen Raynor Stopped Cold!

stAte was in prime position to win that game. What was Butch thinking keeping that time out in his pocket. They were at the 20 with 32 seconds left. Clocked stopped for the first down. Then the next play is a short pass to around the 15 then the next snap is at 9 seconds. I don’t get it. I know they love tempo but even Raynor was begging for a timeout when they
got in or near the red zone.

Also, did anyone’s CDS kick in on the last play? The commentators were talking about Louisiana running onto the field before the whistle blew. No idea what happened or if a penalty could have resulted from the review, but all I could think was the we’d get flagged and Raynor would get another shot on an untimed down and punch it in.

A State fans will look at the statistic sheet and see an unused timeout and blame Butch but the fact is he had all the time in the world he needed to win thanks to Desormeaux calling timeouts for him. A State didn't lose because they ran out of time they lost because the Cajuns kept them out of the endzone on 4th down. If coach D wasn't buying them time the game would have ended on 2nd or probably third down because Butch would have been forced to burn his final timeout. The goal line stand won the game not them forgetting they had a timeout.
