And at catholic league schools if you didnt live in the nearby "zone" you had to sit out from varsity for one year. It just wasnt that noriceable because most sat out their 8th grade year and werent on varsity anyway
Yes. If you are not in the zone of that school in your parish for a Magnet school, that kid must sit out a year even when entering High school and for transferring. A freshmen sits out a year, a transfer sits out a year at a Public Magnet school.
I know that for Magnet schools, but I do not know how regular open enrollment schools work like all of Rapides Parish public schools are open enrollment. How does it work for those?
I agree there are a few private schools who have lots of money, but most have much lower budgets than the public schools, especially in the lower classifications.
Also the percentage of private schools who 'recruit' is likely no higher than the percentage of public schools who 'recruit'.
I totally agree. The split should never have happened, and when it did happen, the private schools should have joined the Mississippi Private School Association [which had a pretty decent footprint in N. Louisiana at the time], and encouraged the private schools in Arkansas to do the same. The only reason LHSAA is still viable is because the private schools stayed put instead of leaving.
