Do they really stop CFP at 25, they dont have points or votes to unofficially determine more spots. What if all 5 conf champs arent in top 25
Great post. Seems others are asking...
If the fifth-highest-ranked conference champion is not in the top 25, that team still earns an automatic bid to the College Football Playoff (CFP). In this scenario, they will receive the No. 12 seed in the 12-team playoff field.
The CFP format guarantees five automatic spots for the five highest-ranked conference champions, regardless of their overall ranking in the top 25.
But how would they decide who is 5th in that scenario?
Could be 4th as well if an upset in title game
Committe will just put head in sand and blame posters. Tin foil to pick, ha
Look at the AP poll, it would take a miracle for JMU. There’s the #2 and #3 teams in the American sitting right behind JMU.
I’m not even gonna entertain the “What if all 5 conf champs arent in top 25”. It’s ridiculous just like most of your posts.
JMU was in the same position as UL when its coach and half the team went to Indiana vs. Napier, et al to Florida. 2 years later, they are Eastern Conference SBC champs and Top 25 and may get a CFP bid while UL is struggling to get to .500 ball and a middle of the pack Western Division SBC team.
Remember in 2021 when UL won the SBC and were 12-1 but Cincy won the American and got into the CFP so they changed the rule and said another G5 couldn’t get into a NY6 regular bowl because G5 Cincy then (highest ranked G5) got into the playoffs. So yes we were the 1st ones out. Sucks we didn’t get that NY6 bowl that year cause of their stupid rule.
