This might sound crazy, but hear me out…
If you’re a hired employee or a student-athlete at UL, could the university legally require you to sign a contract granting them access to your phone records?
I ask because my own workplace has a similar policy. And let’s be honest we all know what’s happening behind the scenes. Coaches, boosters, and donors are reaching out to athletes and making promises before those athletes officially enter the transfer portal. it’s reality.
Think about it: how many recruiting violations are flying under the radar right now? How many coaches are offering money, NIL deals, or other incentives to athletes who are still enrolled at another school? The portal is supposed to be the starting line, but for many, it’s just a formality. The real recruiting starts long before that.
If schools truly wanted to crack down on tampering, wouldn’t phone access be one of the only ways to prove it? I know it raises privacy concerns, but the amount of backchanneling going on has to be staggering. I’d bet there are hundreds maybe thousands of violations happening every year that never get reported.
I promise a coach from another school would stay clear knowing that they could get caught red handed while that athlete is signed with the previous school. If the previous school had access to that kids phone records.
We would cut off UL to UH pipeline! They wouldn’t know what to do.

Ah, Texas State must love seeing this score from late last night. Buyer’s remorse with the PAC2, OSU & WSU 6-13 combined.

Caden Jensen talked about the 2nd pick on a Ragin Review interview last night. He said the second pick was entirely his fault. Simply put, he believes he should have held on to the ball as it hit his hands.
