The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns used outstanding team defense to hold Southeastern Louisiana scoreless over the game's first seven minutes, and the Cajuns led from wire-to-wire, defeating the Lions, 58-52, on Friday at the Cajundome

The win for Louisiana (1-1) marked the first for head coach Quannas White.

Sophomore Jaxon Olvera paced three double-figure scorers for Louisiana with a game-high 20 points. Guard Jamyron Keller scored 11 of his 13 points in the second half, while junior Dorion Finister celebrated his 22nd birthday by adding 12 points to the delight of the 3,304 in the Cajundome.

Interesting that our bigs really struggled on rebounds. Out muscled by much smaller guys. Even when in good position could not hang onto possession of ball. Strength? Technique? Don’t know.
We had a number of really silly fouls. At bad times. Hope we get over that. Our style of defense will cause more fouls but we were not disciplined. Great hustle but I sure got nervous when our point didn’t convert his FTs at end of game. Got to make those.
Crowd into game except at opponents FTs. Very quiet!!

Basketball will be the tell all.
They brought in some players with a decent NIL purse for basketball that Coach Q was able to get together for these players. If it works and we find ourselves in the NCAA tournament this year with instant success, then we know what we have to do and that involves the coaches actively assisting in getting those NIL funds for their specific sports. They no longer can just say I am here to win games. Yes they are here to win games, but in today's climate of college athletics, the coach must be actively involved in generating NIL as well which is totally legal now.
The coaches must also actively engage the fans to boost attendance at their sport, as ticket sales directly impacts the University's contribution toward said NIL.
