Thread: Why does attendance suffer with college students?

Are you saying we have not had over 3000 freshmen coming in the last three years??
I do know we have a low percentage graduation rate at four years and do very well at six years. I have opinions on why but insufficient data. We have too many full time doing part time some semesters. Again, I have opinions but very little data.
I also know we still have a lot of kids who are first time college in the family. Sometimes generationally. I really think that has an impact on rates.
I do know our freshmen classes have grown as we invested in recruiting especially outside of Acadiana. I’m not sure what the future holds for that department.
If you have data on freshmen classes size and full time undergraduate size over the last three years I’d like to see it. And i mean that in data sense only. I have lots of questions but not nearly enough data to answer them.

Seems the more items you are involved with outside campus the more it takes away your focus from campus and thus delays graduattion 4 vs 6 (or not at all)

Might start by revisiting, dorms being empty on weekends, no food options, outside jobs, not joining groups, not attenting games, etc...

Closing school at noon on Friday guarantees mass exodus of students for the weekend.

When you basically ____ on the Greeks, that doesn't help. Along with the fact that interest among students for this football program died years ago. Horrible gameday environment, expensive bad food, below average talent on the field, home boy coaching staff and the list goes on.

Modern times call for modern measures. No school on Sunday, Monday and half a day on Tuesday. Saturday school let's out 30 minutes before kickoff.

We had Saturday classes in 63. Moved to the Tues/Thurs hour and a half in 64. What a relief. No one had cars so it didn’t much matter.
Some interesting thoughts on the whole non engagement thing in the comments. I sure don’t know. I have one of three grandchildren going to college football games. Our granddaughter. Other two are dudes, all out of state, no interest. Their buds do other things.
