It was open for a while and it was a great party place for alot of people. Had a country bar, techno bar, 80s bar, karoke bar. late 90s and early 2000s were the days of MEGA night clubs. You don't see that much any more. also there was the Plaza.
I am not talking about that stuff. I am talking about needing bars and grills to watch other college games and to eat before and after games.
We don't need a Mega Nite club by Cajun Field.
LOL.
Wanna see a sold-out swamp, turn the NEZ into the strip.
Keep the hill, but fence it off from rest of stadium, then make some kind of obstacle course hill outside stadium to get onto the hill inside.
That’s what the tourism crowd is pursuing. But look where they want to put it. Tailgating area.
Our local government props up downtown since the Northgate Mall arrived. And goodness knows how many millions been spent rerouting traffic at the Northgate Mall to “save” it. Acadiana Mall is next. Northside of the river is slowly fading. Just would be another adventure the government would be propping up
And yet we have three years in a row of some of our largest incoming freshmen classes. I’m wondering if college sports is just starting the general decline we see in many pro sports. Lots of watching on tv. Attendance is a battle except at a few really large schools. I watch zero pro sports. And I used to watch all of them. I used to watch college sports. Now I watch UL only.
I can say with certainty, very few of our engineering students or nursing students go to our games. Only two groups I’m familiar with. And they are not going home or to TSAB. Good luck getting them to Cajun Field.
I do not have an answer. Just think we’re seeing a cultural shift for us.
