We get the strip inside the swamp in any form and it would be a transfer portal from driving up to BR to the Strip. LSU came to UL to party every wknd.

Does anyone remember the free crawfish boil for students before the WKU vs. Louisiana basketball game in the Cajun Dome in 2003?
attendance: 9,121 vs. Western Kentucky (2/26/03)
We have not had a larger crowd in the Cajun Dome for basketball since.

    Hint hint????

Also, it is pretty boring around Cajun Field. We need bars and restaurants to hang out at before and after games. There is nothing within walking distance.
We also need another hotel in walking distance besides the Hilton Garden Inn where the opposing teams always stay and take up almost all the rooms especially the double queen rooms. The Cajun out of town fans are price gouged by the hotel for the few remaining rooms they have for almost $300 a night. It is ridiculous.

We have the land there, and we continue to do nothing with it, but wait lets build some indoor basketball and volley bar courts there. What a waste. put that ____ somewhere else.

Wed and thurs used to be huge days for goimg to strips. I guess the dorm kids always went home on weekends at high #s, seems we should have embraced weeknight games, if we wanted the strip at cajun field

Directly related to the absence of NCAA Football on PS and Xbox. We have a decade plus of no football games.

Then throw in, how terrible it is to attend school here. From a perspective of creating a bond with the students and their university.

    1. Grow the Greeks

    2. 20k undergrad on campus students.

    3. Private equity entertainment district around the university.

    4. Split the campus and incorporate housing (housing run by private equity group) around the athletic complex.

    5. Add actual undergrad classrooms around the LITE Center & Wetlands Research Park.

    6. Consolidate parking passes to the paved lots.

    7. Create wide medians in the grassy area with multiple Live Oak trees planted in each one. Charge $20/per vehicle to park inside the gates. “Free tailgating” on the medians.

    8. Reduce the price of current tailgating spots by 30%.

    9. Reduce the per-seat licensing fees by 30%

    10. Tear down the Cox Building. Create champions square there. Honoring our greats and greatest seasons.

    11. Complete the East side renovation, mirror exterior and club seating of the west side. Interior layout would be different to meet the “academic” criteria needed for the state funding.

    12. The Swamp Room on the Levee. Build an exact replica of The Band Box from the Nashville Sounds stadium on the north endzone.

    13. Allow the Greeks to completely renovate Fraternity row and actually act like fraternities and sororities.

    14. Create a block party on Cajun Dome Blvd, between Congress and Bourgeois Hall. Make it a festival type atmosphere, DJ and food trucks down the medians. Don’t even charge the vendors. Make it like Festival International, give wrist bands tied to accounts. Charge $10 per person to enter, kids under 12 are free. The $10 fee is for a GA ticket to the game.

    15. Have the University Police relax, don’t look for underage drinking of college students. They should be there to prevent altercations and keep general safety.

    16. Promote different tailgating competition each home game. Promote all year long.

    17. Raise outside funds, quit overcharging our current fan base.

    18. 6:30 Kickoffs before daylight savings time. Allow tailgating to be set up the Friday before the game.

Implement all of these within the next 3-5 years in conjunction with the East Side renovation and bam. There’s your 50-60k per home game. Half of that would enter the game and you’d see our crowds grow.

Which is why I think we should have always had an athletic fee anyway.. Only a handful of student government types are going to have a problem with it.
I really dont remember the fees being separate from tuition, how/when did that originate. Need to bring it all back in to tuition so tops pays it

There have been talks/plans of putting another hotel near cajundome with them adding the indoor basketball/volleyball facilities.

Speaking of land, did anyone read in Tuesdays Advocate that UL is leasing the land for the new NG Armory for $0 for 55 years?

That’s a start. Now we need bar/grill type restaurants within walking distance.
