That is correct but not a single player from that team is on their team this year--all new players.

Got this off of NTU fan forum:

"I'm not gonna put too much stock in getting out-rebounded in a game where ULL goers 2-28 from three and jacks up 64 total shots (as opposed to our 46)...gotta assume a lot of weird, long offensive rebounds...would be nice to get those, but if they just lead to another bricked three -shoulder shrug emoji- (and geez, ULL had 4 assists all night...they played an ugly ass game of basketball last night...I hope for their sake that's not their "style")."

That's a lot of missed 3s to go with very few assists.

Looking forward to the ball State game!

2 for 28 from three is the stat that stands out to me from this game. That is roughly 7 percent. Based upon the performance of guys on the team at their previous stops, I have to believe that is an anomaly and we will not see that again. Had we made five more 3's, we win the game. That would have been 7 for 28 which is 25 percent which is also poor. As far as the opponent goes, their new coach came to Denton from the head job at Cleveland State. He brought four players with him including three starters. That familiarity may have been a factor in UNT playing well early. At one point they had a 22 to 4 lead. Other than the rough 3 point stats, the Cajuns competed OK in most other categories according to a box score someone sent me. Cajuns actually won the second half 25 to 24. Defense was much improved the second half. That may need to be our standard for success until offensive play improves. Hopefully that defense carries into Monday night. Perhaps playing this exhibition on the road will help prepare the team for the upcoming road challenges.

Now is the time to fix all new moving parts. I hope UL doesn't try to live by the three again.

ALL teams rely on the three ball in the basketball of today. That goes for any level. Having said that, I hope we score from three levels. We need to finish at the rim, take advantage of mid range opportunities, and shoot OPEN three pointers.

I thought defense had the advantage on missed shots, especially three pointers.

Potentially 5 guys closer to the basket.

FFS people. I didn't say the season was going to ____ just because of a poor performance. I was saying that down 27-6 at the time that maybe we need to back off the statements that we will be in the tournament this year. Maybe we should let a bit more of the season play out before one game is played before making those statements. That's all.
