I was surprised to see Howard come in before halftime. He looked pretty sharp and threw some good passes. But our receivers dropped /missed almost all of them. The one long pass into a strong wind was not a good idea and led to an interception. We don’t have any “ better than average” receivers. I wish we didn’t lose Carter and Broussard to “big money” schools, but how ever screwed up this is, I’m afraid it may be our “new normal”. If we can get Howard back, might be a good idea to move Lunch to receiver.
HA! Yep.
But also, I do think Coach Dez deep down inside thinks he can fix this. And I believe he's going to try to do everything he can to do it. Coach Dez hasn't checked out like Marlin did the last few years...just enjoying all the praise thrown at him by the lackeys.
I just don't think Coach Dez is the guy, and he'll need someone to make that decision for him. This ain't a lack of effort and lack of carrying about the program on his part.
Not if he’s coaching the f’n tight ends. Our QB coach, as good of a football player as he was, was not a good quarterback. His mechanics were terrible and his footwork was sloppy. He threw horrible wobbly balls. So instead of having the guy who Joe burrow credits for his quarterback progression as the QB/OC, we have him at TE coach and the not very good college QB as the QB/OC/HC. Makes a lot of sense I tell ya what.
It is my understanding that there were backers willing to pay Napier up to $3M a year to stay. Would those same backers agree to buy out Dez and bring in the right coach to lead this program. We can't afford to continue on this path. Don't waste years like we did in basketball. We finally brought in the right BB coach. Let's do the same for football. Let Munoz or Leger take over as interim coach. Send a message to the fan base and save this program.
Nope. Clean house, start fresh. The lifers in the LASAR retirement system can go join Viator at McNeese.
This cannot drag out like Marlin and not pull the trigger the first time, allowing the blind squirrel to find a good year yet prolonged the problem and lose fans.
