You do make a good point. I could be wrong about the author's personal political feelings, as I don't know him, but the overall collective opinion of The Current's leadership/organization is likely very anti-running government entities similar to a business. In fact, they're probably more along the lines of we should tax everyone and every business enough so all children can have "free" college tuition.

The university is being faced with having to perform layoffs. I doubt an interim president is going to want the optics of academic layoffs while buying out CMD and spending market rate for a replacement. Even if private money is floated to do so.

1- Coach Robe proved himself as a head coach at McNeese prior.

2- Coach Robe wasn’t handed the keys to a team that had won 87% of its games over the past three seasons and finished the prior two ranked in the Top 25.

2- Coach Robe wasn’t handed the keys to a team that had won 87% of its games over the past three seasons and finished the prior two ranked in the Top 25.

Well, we've gone from the Top 25 to the Bottom 25 with 3 losing seasons and a disastrous year. I was supportive of Dez and wanted him to succeed. But, after this, his 4th year, I hope a change is made. Our revenue is dwindling and football needs to do exactly what basketball did to infuse new life into UL athletics.

That's not the case at all. Napier took a couple of really good players and a couple of others transferred but we were left a very good stockpile of talent. That's what made Des's first couple of years so frustrating because we still had major football players.
