    Default SBC vs AAC

    A tale of two conferences.

Last week, UNT played one of their most historic games in front of a sold out stadium with 30K fans. 🏟

The stadium and atmosphere was electric and engaging.

    Why not us? 🤔

    - Two G6 shcools with Top 25 implications.
    - P4 game 50 miles away(Texas vs OU...next day)
    - Piped music over the speakers 🔊
    - Fan prizes and engagement during each change of possession.
    - Only one entry gate on each side of the stadium.
    - Shuttle service for parking across I-35 ($20 parking fee/$15 advance)
    - Cheap concessions.
    .....sounds familiar?

As a college football fan, this is what we want. Why are we missing the mark at UL?

The grapic is telling. It is the SBC conference. Even when there's meaningful football being no one shows up for SBC football in Acadiana.

30K showed up on a Friday night to watch a G6 brand of football. We may never get to P4 status, but we have to do everything possible to get out of the SBC.

I agree. But, UNT sure shot themselves in the foot with that performance. Doubt they will get over 15,000 for their next game.

IMO, the SBC is toxic. It carries a stigma from past years. No one is interested in our playing USA, Troy, ULM, or most of the Eastern SBC teams, GA Southern, GA State, ODU, & CCU. A weak schedule with unappealing teams.

A G6 conference with the following teams would take the best programs from the AAC and SBC, keep travel costs to a regional level, and provide a top level conference that is better than the two separate ones at this point and excite not only our fan base but the fan bases of all the other teams. It would be better than the current AAC and would compete with the PAC 12 / MWC which when it finally merges will be the strongest G6 conference. I know, wishful thinking. But, continuing the status quo does nothing for our fans or the university.

    West

UL, Ark State, UTSA, N. Texas, Tulsa, Rice, S. Miss, Tulane

    East

App State, Marshall, JMU, ECU, Army, Navy, S. Florida, Memphis

Bring in a nationally ranked team, be undefeated and, most importantly, be prepared internally for such an event and UL can do this as well.

A 20% infusion to the budget rather than cuts and 8 schools with like-minded investment and maybe it happens. Dare to dream.

We could be LAT that only had 50K watching.

PAC or AAC. Anything else and we are stagnant.

Next round of realignment will hit when the ACC has to backfill and the media contracts come up for renewal.

There will be movement between AAC and SBC. One way or the other, we need to be in the cool kids group.

Simple, because T-Joe, Maggard, and now Des, since we won't be winning enough to be taken serious. Only leadership can get us there and we currently don't have it. I'm always hopeful we will someday.

Our Cajuns need as big a presence as possible in the online community if we want other schools to notice us.

What’s that old quote? You can lead a horse to water but can’t make him drink. Perhaps WE need to look in the mirror to find out who’s at fault. Are WE doing enough to get our programs where they need to be. Are WE contributing enough or are we always looking to blame someone else? We see too much of that in society. Make a difference.

Off my soapbox. Enjoy homecoming. Wear red and be loud.
