Thread: Best comeback in school history?

  1. UL Football Best comeback in school history?

As soon as UL pulled off the dramatic 54-51 double overtime win over Marshall on Saturday, those media members and fans who have been around these parts for decades starting looking back.

Immediately, the Cajuns’ 40-26 win over then-Northeast Louisiana on Nov. 6, 1982 came to mind for some.

This may be the GOAT. (Excluding very old school which none of us really know)

I'll never forget my first year at U(S)L, in 1982, when the CAJUNS were down 26-0 to (then) NLU at halftime. Everyone thought that game was over, but then Dwight Prudhomme came in at quarterback in the second half and threw for over 300 yards and led the CAJUNS to a 40-26 victory. I've never seen another comeback like this one!!

    So many variables.

From a zero to win standpoint the game, against ULM. But he was 1st string kicking it in gear. That doesn't take, away from the comeback though.

A third string doing it while the opponent continued to score is huge.

    82.was a team effort.

    25 was offense offense offense

The comeback against Houston with Jerry Babb and Belton "The Hand" was awesome.

How about the one against ULMost several years back where Ladarius Green snatched the onside kick?

I know it wasn’t a massive comeback but 1989 vs Arkansas state where Brian Mitchell scored to take the lead only to have a holding penalty negate that and then do it again on the next play as time expired to win 29-28 in front of less than 13k, which I was one of them to finish the season 7-4 was epic.

UH was probably the best team.

They won 10 games and the CUSA championship that year. Played in the Liberty Bowl in shoot out with South Carolina.

Kolb, the UH quarterback, also had a decent NFL career.

I was still in school and remember listening to that game. I had to pull over at a gas station to listen to the end.
