Fair enough. Maybe he comes down to earth with a defense who prepared for him all week. Still, there was a glaring difference between how Beale has played since Week 2 and Lunch with less than a full half.

I think this is important. Lunch was able to come in and play by the seat of his pants against a defense that only prepped for him to run wildcat plays and probably nothing more. Now, he's going to play against a good defense that's had two weeks to prep for him. I think its silly to think you'll see anything close to as explosive as you saw last weekend and I would expect them to pressure the LOS challenging both the run and the scramble of Lunch making him put it in the air to beat them.

Marshall was running all over us and without Lunch we would have lost again. That would put us at 1-6. Then, going to a bye week after a humbling loss only to face JMU on the road with likely another loss with an unsettled QB to go 1-7. How things changed dramatically with Lunch's performance and a win.

Nobody is short changing what he did and the impact he had on the game when he entered. The numbers speak for themselves and anybody who watched the game can see the immediate spark he provided.

However, my comments were more looking at upcoming games and to just warn people to not think that will be the norm. Lunch is now on everyone's radar moving forward and they will prep accordingly. He's not a big multi-read passer, or at least he didn't show that he was the other night. He had one receiver picked out and if he couldn't deliver the ball to him, he was tucking it and running. I'm just curious to see what happens when teams load the LOS and fill running lanes and Lunch is required to put the ball in the air consistently.

To have him sit in the pocket then run for his life is not a good strategy. We have 2 really good RF and a running QB with 2 weeks to install a modified offense and an effective game plan.

And, don't forget about our defense which has been horrendous. Players out of position who seem lost, especially #3 LB, Dugger. He seems to get sucked in and is out of position on running plays leaving huge gaps and large yardage gains. 2 weeks to get all of this fixed. We had better as we are playing likely the best team in the conference.

Jake st. Andre should be our starting middle LB. He’s not as athletic but he fills the right gaps more often than the others.
