Hi guys! Making the trip down this weekend from WV. Me and 2 buddies are coming into town Thursday, leave Sunday. Looking for all of your recommendations for the “have to do” things and “have to eat” restaurants.

We’re your typical late 30 something’s who feel like we can still drink and have a good time like we used to. May make the the trip to New Orleans at some point or to Baton Rouge for some fun too. All depends on what you guys suggest!

First of all, don’t waste your time in Baton Rouge. If you’re going to New Orleans, don’t stray too far from The French Quarter or Bourbon Street after dark.

Walk through the Tailgate area before the game. We’re pretty friendly down here. Someone will hook you up with beer and food.

Baton Rouge sucks. No culture at all. Yard Goat is the hot spot for the young people. Adopted Dog is good for families and a spot for food. I’ll be cooking bison at the tailgate spot!

Yeah Baton Rouge won't have ____ going on next weekend with their college team being on the road. A new Orleans leg would be better if you have time

Highly recommend New Orleans. Highly don’t recommend Baton Rouge.

In New Orleans, it’s hard to know where to start. If you like history, the National WWII museum is incredible. And New Orleans itself is oozing history. So many good tours, museums, etc. If you like drinking, Bourbon is obviously where you go to drink a lot. Go to Pat O’Briens, get an hurricane, and see the dueling pianos. If you like Jazz music, Preservation Hall is a must. If you don’t like Jazz music, it is still a must.

Here, try to check out a swamp tour. I’d try to go in the morning before it gets too hot. Stop at a Cajun meat market (Billy’s NuNu’s, Best Stop, Dons, etc.) and get some boudin. Johnson’s Boucaniere is a favorite for lunch and fairly close to Cajun Field.

Come by the Gulf Coast Bank tent, across from the SW entrance of the football stadium. Always good food and drinks. Ask for Bobby are Ricky!!!
