SO who backed out of the that game? If it was Missouri, then why honor the contract? UL would have probably beaten Missouri that season. Why let another team dictate what you do in the future? I don't have receipts, but it seems to me this has been the excuse for letting other big schools weasel out of games when they weren't all that good & they realized UL had a good program & was hot at the time. The rest is just ____ poor bad scheduling on a very consistent basis.
The fact is schools like UL are going to have to continually fight & adjust to this whole NIL garbage if they want to keep a viable program. And UL is going to have some very UP & very DOWN seasons as a result. Hell, even the big boys are going through the same crap. But they deserve it because they are the ones who opened this can of worms. Schools have to do the best they can to get & retain as many good players as they can & buy the rest to fill in the cracks. The schools who can adjust & adapt the best on the fly are the ones who will have the most success. But the days of any school having three, or four monstrous season in a row like Georgia had recently are now a thing of the past. The only choice UL fan has is to stay the course through this rough patch & hope you can put that magic formula together once every three years. Because one out of three is about the best the G-5 programs are gonna get in all of this.
