Thread: 1st Quarter of Football Season

  1. Default Re: 1st Quarter of Football Season

one can't buy players with no money

if you can't buy players, you can't expect to compete at a high or consistent level against any team we play

we are where we are and we should probably not expect to be anywhere else in the future unless there is money to by players

none of the trees we saved in front of the stadium are money trees - we need a money tree

anyone who has higher expectations needs to become a limb on that money tree and feed Des what he needs to buy players, otherwise, get used to it

it's not like this has not all been known well in advance, so don't proclaim to be surprised

    looking for limbs . . .

Exactly Vic, has CMD been failed by the administration and NIL fundraising? Dude won 10 games last year. The staff did not forget how to coach.

The major variable is talent depth. Something Napier did well. He was able to have the necessary depth to create highly competitive practices. CMD does not have the same luxury.

We were told that this was the most deep, talented team of Dez's tenure

    Right.

And lack of depth does not explain 4 passing yards and one third down conversion against Missouri.

Even ULM managed 10 pass completions for 55 yards, and six third down conversions in an absolute shellacking by Alabama.

Then sounds like Dez needs to hit the pavement raising NIL funds for his program, similar to how our new basketball coach, who’s been here less than a year, did to get NIL and money for assistants for his program.

He already has with his golf tournament and other events. However, coming up with NIL for football is a much larger task than basketball. NIL for 5 basketball players can completely turn around a program. That's just an offensive line in football.

Yep. We will never catch the NIL football tail.

We need to rethink the structure of our football program. Most G5 schools are trying to run the same offensive scheme as the Power schools. We make it too easy for them to raid us.

There are ways to avoid getting completely gutted from NIL.

this may well be the case but have yet to see those ways identified yet . . .

and like was identified - from a $$$ standpoint, basketball is so much more practical or easy to NIL than football - look at McNeese

If everyone would put a $1 in a NIL jar everytime they have a problem with the program we could fix our NIL shortfalls. Haha

So, Beale can't throw. Lunch probably can't either, but hasn't been given much of a chance. Why not start Lunch and run some option football? We have a running QB and some good RBs. Let's play to our strenghts.
