  1. UL Golf Potgieter Ties For Medalist Honors at Argent Financial Classic

Louisiana's Malan Potgieter recorded an 8-under-par 64 to set career-lows for both single-round and 54-hole score as he shared his second career individual title during the final round of the Argent Financial Classic on Tuesday at Squire Creek Country Club.

Potgieter carded a 54-hole score of 13-under-203 to eclipse his previous low (207) set at the Louisiana Classics earlier this year. The senior, who recorded his ninth career top-5 finish, held the individual lead before Houston's Hudson Weibel forced a sudden death playoff after his birdie on No. 17 helped him to a 6-under-66 in the final round.

After both players recorded par on the first playoff hole at No. 18, Weibel would hole out from 123 yards with an eagle on No. 1 to claim the overall crown.

Potgieter, the first-round leader before shooting a 2-over-par 74 on Monday, surged back up the leaderboard beginning with a 5-under-31 on the front nine. The Kirkwood, South Africa native would record a birdie at No. 11 to move to 6-under for the round before sinking birdies at both No. 17 and 18 break his previous low (65) set three times, including in Sunday's opening round.

Louisiana posted a team score of 6-under 282 in the final round to finish sixth overall in the 17-team field. Houston, which opened the day in third place posted a scorching 23-under-265 in the final round to claim the team title at 832 for 54 holes.

South Alabama, the leader after Monday's second round, finished second overall at 838 with Southern Miss (846), Memphis (848) and Rice (848) rounding out the top five.

Carter Schmitt tied his lowest round as a Ragin' Cajun after firing a 5-under-67 to finish at even-par 216 for the tournament. Jay Brooks recorded a final round score of 3-over-75 to finish at 3-over-219 for Louisiana with Ben Blanco (220) and James Holtsclaw (221) completing their first event at the collegiate level.

Jean Louis du Plessis, competing individually, posted his best 54-hole score as a Ragin' Cajun after posting an even-par 72 in the final round to finish at 4-under-212.

Louisiana will return to action beginning on Monday (September 15) when it travels to suburban Chicago to compete in the Highlands Invitational Hosted by Turtleson. The two-day, 54-hole event will be played at the Chicago Highlands Club in Westchester, Ill.

    Nice job.

Tough to go into the club house with the overall lead and the other guy gets hot to tie and has an eagle in a sudden death playoff.

    Still awesome job.

How did he do at the US Amateur? I haven't seen anything on that, not even on the athletic website.
