    - Yes, you likely broke the law.

    - Yes, he could have given you a ticket.

    - A police officer watched you break the law and he didn’t give you a ticket. And you’re upset about this?

    - I don’t think UP has a bad rap and I don’t think this incident gives them one.
Did you read it? Explain what law was broken? I’ll bet you can’t.

And yes, of course, there are good officers. I have friends in LE from city, to sheriff, to state, to FBI. And in private, they all talk about the level of corruption in law enforcement. Sadly, many are grossly ignorant of basic law, and a large portion are more interested in ego enforcement than law enforcement.
You got a ticket for driving through Cajuns Field and it was dismissed?

I think your last sentence is the answer here.

While they do not typically deal with anything away from campus, they can if the need arises.
Water boy knows police work at the highest level. Trust me.

Also if they dont want people there couldnt they close the gates?
I don’t think it matters when he picked me up. I came to a complete stop at the light and made a right turn down congress, went down congress about 50 yds and made a left from the turning lane into cajun field. Driving through cajun field is not against the law, people do it every day.

Tell me what laws were broken?

Louisiana Revised Statutes § 32:101 (C) No person shall drive any vehicle through or over private property, including, but not limited to, any corner parking or driveway facility, from a highway solely for the purposes of entering another highway.

    Good to know.

I use to cut through Cajun Basin at 3am with a truck full of mail just to look at the facilities.

    Glad I never got stopped.

Interesting...so the light being red really had nothing to do with it

But is it private??? Seems not

If a university is a public university, its property is considered public property.
If it is a private university, its property is considered private property

    Univ. of Louisiana Parking Lots

    Ownership:

All parking lots on and around Cajun Field, Our Lady of Lourdes Stadium, and the main academic campus are owned by the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors.

This makes them university property, i.e., private property managed by a public university.

    Enforcement:

UL has its own Office of Transportation Services (OTS) and collaborates with UL Police Department (ULPD).
