I think we can all agree that the new OLOL stadium is outstanding and a pleasant change from the old Cajun Field. There is really nothing about the stadium itself that I don’t like. Along with building the new stadium comes the need to generate as much income as possible to get that baby paid for. Therefore, I do understand the need for all the commercials on the scoreboard and the promotions throughout the game. I don’t like any of that, but understand and can deal with it. I’m there to watch the game and most of that other stuff (regardless of how silly and stupid it is) is just something I will have to live with.
However, the biggest gripes I have is the music! Not the music itself, but the fact that they continue to play it between downs VIRTUALLY UP UNTIL THE TIME THE BALL IS SNAPPED!!! Somebody get a frickin clue or find someone to handle the music that also understands and knows football!! Especially when the Cajuns are on offense!!! Our offense is already struggling enough without the DJ making things more difficult!
The other thing that ____ed me off last night was the introduction of this year’s Hall Of Fame inductees. This honor is probably one of the biggest honors that these former athletes will have in their lives. Doing this in the end zone between quarters when the reading of their accomplishments has to be rushed, does not provide them with the proper respect and recognition that they deserve. Why not do this at halftime when there is usually plenty of time left after the bands performance of before such performance. This is done during the homecoming game when the homecoming court is presented, so it can be done! Don’t honor these people and try to make it a big deal and then do it this way. I realize that their formal induction is done at a nice banquet beforehand, but the vast majority of people in the stadium are not there and many don’t even know anything about these former hero’s! Let’s get it right.
This happens every season and needs to be changed!
