Before discussing any details about any strategies, potential problem areas or even a Top 25 road opponent, UL coach Michael Desormeaux wanted to make something clear Monday.
He fully appreciated how his Ragin’ Cajuns responded to a disappointing 14-12 loss to Rice in the season opener.
There are still concerns, but addressing those with a 1-1 record instead of 0-2 coming off a loss to McNeese State are two very different things.
Bill Davis ran for two touchdowns on Saturday night and had 132 of Louisiana’s 315 yards rushing to help the Ragin’ Cajuns beat McNeese 34-10.
Zylan Perry ran for 94 yards on 14 carries and Steven Blanco had 69 yards rushing, including a 34-yard touchdown that capped the scoring with 1:39 to play.
Davis opened the scoring about two minutes into the game with a 2-yard TD run and added a 36-yarder with 1:06 remaining in the second quarter that made it 14-7 and gave Louisiana (1-1) the lead for good.
Ok, so admittedly, I was rather harsh on Beale on posting during the game. I pretty much was amazed that his accuracy was so off to say the least. So far, this is all we've seeing from him, in the few appearances that he has made in UL games. Maybe, just maybe, he's very nervous, or he's rushing the throw, causing his mechanics to be way off. At some point, he needs to settle down and show some sign of being able to do what QB's do. He's our only hope for the year apparently, so I hope he can improve quickly. Good luck Beale.
