their AD bails to “pursue other professional opportunities.” Another quick departure in the ULS.

MONROE, LA – John Hartwell, the Athletic Director of the University of Louisiana Monroe, announced his resignation on August 4. Hartwell has served as the university’s AD since February 2023. Hartwell will be pursuing other professional opportunities.

“I am grateful for the support of our student athletes, coaches, senior staff, donors, alumni and all of Warhawk nation,” said Hartwell.

“We deeply appreciate what John has done for ULM Athletics over the last few seasons and wish him and his family all the best,” said ULM President Dr. Carrie L. Castille. “There is a plan in place, and we will be making that plan known as soon as the logistics are finalized. My commitment to ULM Athletics and the Sun Belt Conference is unwavering, and we will continue to find ways to win on the field, on the court, in the community, and in the classroom.

The announcement of an interim Athletic Director and plans for the future of ULM Athletics will be forthcoming.

Reality set in, state cuts for all. No interest in giving long term.

No way ULM stays in the SBC at FBC level.
Although, they are always welcome: I think their time at FBS is done.

President is cutting 20% of their athletic budget is the rumor.

Well, ULM students will never vote for athletic fees again. Their fees will be eaten up with a 20% cut, making no difference with their vote.

That exactly what T-Joe would do here.

If you think this is only going to happen at ULM you’ll be in for quite a shock.

Just remember, this is all happening because Jeff Landry and his party chose to cut income taxes for rich people (yes, ONLY rich people) and now there’s a huge budget shortfall.

Man I wish I could curse on this site.

You really think this state is run by Red or Blue politicians? They are one and the same.

Louisiana is 26th in domestic GDP, with true GDP growth of a little over 3%. Yet we can’t figure out how to fund universities because the biggest crooks in the state are elected officials.

Spare me the red vs blue BS. The fact is if the state were truly audited and the fraud waste and abuse were exposed and immediately stopped we wouldn’t have this problem.

Cause they are only truly concerned with funding one CERTAIN university and we all know it.

Interesting that JBE reversed the deep spending cuts made by Jindal and began actually funding state higher ed.
