Nation, his work here especially academics is not a blank slate. Under his tenure you can look at the research dollars that have grown and the university's rankings. I realize his political decisions have cost him, I'm not in agreement with him in those areas. But I can acknowledge the work he has done otherwise and his commitments to athletics was never accomplished by his predecessor. I would rather keep it respectful here and focus on the next hire. I think we can all agree it may be the most important hire in the last 50 plus years at this university.

Best wishes for a healthy, fulfilling retirement Dr. Savoie. On balance, Dr. Savoie made a positive impact on the university and the State. He had a good run. Everything ends at some point then starts anew. Now its time for a change.

Tech makes sense because Dr. Henderson knows where all the skeletons would be.

Tech doesn't make sense in that they just got an invite to the SBC. Unless it was a mask off moment.

Several of us have been telling yall this was coming sooner than later. You can’t fail 4 audits in a row and keep things status quo. Finances were a big reason but there were more issues and growing groups demanding change.

That said, I posted on this forum 10ish years ago that Savoie would go down as the president who saved UL athletics and get us to R1 status. He did both. Regardless of our qualms with his politics and decision making over the last 2-3 years, Savoie did a lot for this University.

Thanks for your leadership and loyalty T-Joe. You were the right man at the right time.

The audit(s) found what were serious issues that continued unresolved. That cannot be allied to continue. The buck stops at the top. No clue why those findings were not resolved. J Luke knew the system and the outcomes and didn’t resolve them. He worked for T-Joe. Audits are important.

Overall, next to Dr. Stephens, T-Joe has been our most impactful president. Dr. Hebert will likely have marching orders to clear up the audit findings and keep all else on even keel. Best to him.

Jamie Hebert will be a great friend to athletics. And the name battle. I’m very excited about the possibilities with him.
