Fully agree. T-Joe’s entire adult life was in education. Personal side, last few were tough for him and his family. Change of scenery is good for the soul.
Given the audit issue and the rapidly changing grant and athletic worlds, wouldn’t blame him.
New person may be making some tough decisions, which means they won’t be here long. Fixers never stay.
Graduate from UL in 2018 with my bachelors and will graduate with my Doctorate in 2026. What a privilege it has been to watch this university grow into what it is today. I am from New Orleans and honestly never thought about this university until 2012.
2012 - 2025. Man what a change and turnaround. Bravo. Dr. Savoie you are an incredible man and the last 17 years have been a joy to experience. Insane athletics growth, national recognition with a new brand and name, and achieving R1 designation academically are achievements that other Universities could only dream of.
As it pertains to a new hire, that is exciting news indeed. Change is a good thing, new energy and ideas are pivotal in higher education today. Lafayette parish is growing. Our footprint gets bigger everyday. Be and feel blessed, because we clearly are.
