3 for one really seems only like a 2.5 for 1 if 3rd doesnt include payday

Win one or more of the 3 and watch attendance explode

In the spreadsheet posted there are two scanarios, in both you are playing one home and home with a G5 and one P4, annually.

You can have three 3-for1 relationships going on simultaneously and not play more than one P4 annually.

You would get a different P4 (on average) in the house every four years.

Scenario a: Using the slots that a 3-for-1 would take up (but only doing one offs with the G5 HnH) playing ONE P4 annually over a period of twelve years you will have to forge 18 different relationships and sign 18 different contracts with 18 different schools.

Scenario b: In a 3-for-1, (still with the G5 HnH) you consolidate your efforts into 9 contracts with 9 different schools.

Over that period of time you either have a 12-for-none or a 3-for-one.

Without the G5 in the equation it's 12 contracts vs 3.
So in a two for one or a three for one scenario when the P4 team is playing for free at the Cajun's, where is the $1.8 million that our budget needs as a payday game in that season?

While I prefer 2 and read that MD likes the idea of two, I'm working under the artifical constraints of not being able to handle two P4's a year.

It is definitely a long term investment.

In those years you are not having to buy a Nicholls or McNeese so the financial gap is lessened.

Besides more season tickets being sold, attendance increases, so the gap is lessoned even more.

Long term fans are created so the payoff continues for years to come.

I have no idea at what point it equalizes or exceeds the potentially missed payday, but I have no doubt it is the path to take to grow interest in the program.

    Grow interest, grow money.

I agree with the grow interest, grow money. There is also the adage 'it takes money to make money' and it doesn't seem like we are in the position to be risking money right now to 'bet on the come'. I wish ti was different.

Ok, so if Louisiana can't afford to wait for the program to grow ... every fourth year schedule a Iowa State or a Wake Forest.

    P4 yearly
    1
    1
    1
    2
    1
    1
    1
    2

    Third hand:
'Coach Desormeaux is not opposed to two P4's yearly.'

He might not be opposed, but is it in the best interest of the program, if we are vying a CFP slot? Past G5/6 representatives have been able to get in with one loss, IF that loss was to a P4.

    Once again, risk vs reward.

To make it into the College Football Playoffs you obviously have to be good. That is a given.

They also look at Strength of Schedule.

I don't think playing just one P4 game will do it anymore. Bias will be stronger than ever. Maybe if you start the season ranked.

If you are good enough to make it to the CFP, you are good enough to beat two P4 opponents.

The bigger picture for me is growing the brand by getting more recognized names through Cajun Field.

Under this scenario (constraints) on average, we are talking once every 4 years (for 2 P4 game) and once every four years for getting a P4 at home.

Right. There are so many variables, both known and unknown that go into the CFP selection process.

We are best served focusing on what is best to grow our program locally. Converting 1 non-conference slot to a dedicated 2 for 1 P4 slot to go along with the dedicated P4 money game slot is the next step we need to do to grow.
