Thread: G6 Hosting P4

  1. Default Re: G6 Hosting P4

What is the difference if you do a money game with team "A" one year, and a money game with team "B" another year, and home and home with a G5 team "C" in two other years, vs building a relationship with one P4 team whose only goal is more home games?

What? I am still guessing at what you are selling but under no circumstances are you buying a P4 game without a return visit. That is reality.

Just because the P4 opponents change annually doesn't mean Louisiana isn't on a 10-for-none streak.

    Build relationships with individual schools.

3-for-1 is better than the streak we are on.

But the p4 goal is not just more home games, it is more EASY home games... if we are a threat they wont schedule it

Actually Houston might be an option for a 2 for 1 series. It might take some horse trading but it could be done. Each school gives the visitor 5,000 tickets where they keep the revenue (neither school is selling out routinely) . Both schools should travel well for this game. I know Fritz plans to recruit Louisiana. It could be done.

I’m sure the A2 at some point will go “challenge” games like basketball to keep the money in the family. The leftovers from he AAC and Big 12 will become the occasional homecoming specials, and the FCS programs will lose that lifeline.

That’s why the McNeeses of the world are willing to do whatever it takes to get L A Tech’s spot in CUSA.

    There are pros and cons.

Currently from their standpoint there are more cons no doubt about it.

It is Louisiana's obligation to increase the pros to the point where there are more positives than negatives to having a relationship with Louisiana.

The positives for Louisiana will be seen for many years down the road if the pro course is chosen and not abandoned.

Not every P4 conference gets the perceived strength of an SEC schedule.

There are other P4 conference schools who know they can benefit from an out of conference bump.

Louisiana doesn't have to buy anything in a 3-for-1.

DO's: Continue scheduling HnH with AAC or now called AC schools. Good seeing Tulane, Rice, Tulsa, UAB on future football schedules every year. GOOD JOB! Other good gets in the South like Memphis, USF, UTSA are attractive plus Tulane more frequently. Keep it going!
Don'ts: Please drop the MAC. Understand we owe Buffalo, but otherwise BORING!
DO's: Prioritize scheduling a HnH with a service academy. Will be wildly popular if athletic department can pull this off.
Don'ts: No need to over leverage ourselves getting a P4 2 for 1. Sure the thought of a SEC, ACC, or Big12 visit is big time. I used to believe why not go for a 2 for 1? But the world has changed. Given the current budget needs to pay players and retain better coaches let's hit the road for the P4 payday.
DO's: Our strength of schedule needs to step up. Advocate for a 9 game SBC schedule. Then reduce FCS home games to every other year. Our fans pay too much these days to watch FCS football every year.
Don'ts: When playing the SEC avoid future scheduling the stacked Bama's, Tenn, FL, TX, TSAB, UGA's.
