Thank you, sir! Please let Maggard know.

"More meaning" meaning more interest more everything than they did out of conference.

What I don't agree with is claims of "savings"

As it stands Louisiana will now have to travel more to find a Tech replacement out of conference which will certainly mean more expense traveling.

Unless of course he stays local, but I hope the replacements aren't more FCS in state schools.

Local FCS would be the only way there would be travel savings, but it would undercut Louisiana's overall strength of schedule and result in lower overall attendance.
Of course you don't agree, it kills your narrative Turbine. The guy pays the bills, but he doesn't know what he's talking about.

Mike, stop wasting your time brother. He is dead set in his mind and no logic will change his mind.

Long long ago, about the time when the NCAA added a 12th game, one of my suggestions was for Louisiana to become quazi BIG 12 members Out of Conference.

Play the Big 12 so often that it felt to them like Louisiana was already a member.

My year in and year out suggestion for out of conference games was 1 game annually vs in state schools. (rotate them all) from LSU to Nicholls.

Two games annually vs BIG 12 teams.

1 Home-n-Home vs D1 schools from all over the country.

If Louisiana had those relationships in place at the time of Big 12 contraction, they would have looked past every other school and went straight for Louisiana to bounce back.

Every Big 12 President would have had an ongoing relationship with Dr Savoie.

My other suggestion at the time was go Indi and play the Big 12 even more ... for the same reasons.

    Relationships.

People told you what they read and what they were told. Do yourself a favor and read some factual information. I have no idea what the budget is for coaches' salaries for softball. Sorry your feelings were hurt.

"The athletics department's total revenues were $33,569,616 in fiscal year 2024 compared to total expenses of $46,177,198, resulting in a deficit of $12,607,582."

UL spent $46M this past fiscal year and he said it will probably be around $40M this fiscal year. Be any math, that is a reduction of over $6M. So yes, there will be budget cuts.

The East side will be funded by the state capital outlay. Basically, this is the state legislature passing a law that says “Let’s give UL $40million to build the East side.”

This has nothing to do with our normal yearly operating budget. That budget is getting cut drastically because the state legislature also passed a law that said “let’s cut taxes for wealthy people and take lots of money away from our state universities so we can still balance the budget.”

My point was regardless of what the budget is a softball coach still had to be hired. Some folks on this site was saying a coach wouldn't be hired because of a lower budget.

My first pod experience. I’ve only listened to the first hour. Thanks for having Dr Maggard on and I appreciate his straight forward responses. Keep up the good work.

Glad to see he’s expanded his wine selection because his beer selection is not too good.
