OLOL stadium is nicknamed “The Swamp” and needs more signage to promote it. We can claim the culture!
If we really want to be Louisiana, we need to represent all of Louisiana. That means taking 337 off the football helmets and not wearing/producing vintage gear that says USL or has a bulldog mascot. If I didn’t love the Acadiana flag so much, I’d even say that should be removed from branding.
If we ever get a mascot, I think the gator is perfect because everyone thinks we, in all of Louisiana, have them as pets. Maybe put an Acadiana flag on him to signify where he’s located, but when he flies a flag, it needs to be a Louisiana flag, or something that symbolizes the state. We’ve got to hammer the fact that we represent Louisiana as a whole.
I don’t believe anything tied to Acadiana should be removed or downplayed. If anything, it should be elevated. It represents the cultural heart of where most Cajuns come from—and where a significant portion of our fanbase calls home.
Put it this way: if we actively engage communities like Crowley, New Iberia, Eunice, and Opelousas, and rally their support, we could easily pull 30,000 fans per game, Acadiana is a cornerstone of our identity, and embracing it only deepens our connection to the region.
There’s no harm in using the flag. In fact, it reinforces authenticity and honors the heritage we represent.
But here’s the core issue: there’s too much emphasis on “Ragin’ Cajuns” and not enough on “Louisiana.” If the goal is to represent the entire state, the Louisiana name has to lead. Acadiana is vital—but it must be part of a broader, unified brand that speaks to all Louisianians.
We need to flip the focus “Louisiana” is the brand—“Ragin’ Cajuns” is the spirit. The Acadiana Flag is part of that spirit and region. That shift could expand our reach, deepen our pride, and connect us with people far beyond the 337 area code.
I really do not want this to turn this into a uniform thread! This is more of showing where I am coming from. I dont think this causes brand confusion. I could be wrong but the Acadiana flag is just a representation of Cajun Culture
