The SunBelt didn't need La Tech and the East certainly didn't want them. Arms had to be twisted to make the vote work. While the regional stuff is true, the university and its programs don't bring anything more than what Texas State offered. If anything, we lost better facilities, a better destination, a more recently relevant football team, better softball, comparative baseball.

Gained an upgrade in basketball and a shorter bus trip.

I'd venture to say LaTex needed the Sunbelt.

San Marcos is absolutely a better destination for visitors than Ruston. Huge downgrade from that angle.

On the Sunbelt board they said the vote was 10-3 with the virginia schools and marshall all voted no, but the conference will say in the end the vote was unanimous 13-0.
