This is a false positive due to the fact that if travel costs mattered the two schools would have been facing each other annually for the last 25 years.
Travel costs did not matter.

True, he does get excited at some games, I’ve seen it. I also know most sports fans can get pretty excited when watching games without any real ties to either teams.
I like Dr Maggard as a person and he’s a competent Athletic Director. I don’t see the passion to get UL Athletics to any point higher than where we are. Ever hear him speak about it? I never have. I guess it looks more like he’s trying to tread water. Play bad teams for a good record, and point and say look, we are winning. This is not good enough.
Dr Authement had incredible passion on game day and attended many practices during the week.
That does not mean he made the right moves for long term growth of the program.
