I went with a friend who had gone to eat there earlier in the week & they told me they didn't have a good experience earlier that week with the fries at the Ambassador store. I naturally defended the honor of Fat Pat's quality & said I love their steaming hot fries & their beer battered onion rings.

So, fast forward to Saturday & I pretty much forgot the rest of the conversation except this person owed me a trip to Fat Pat's on a favor, so off we went. When it came time to order, they weren't interested in Fries & I had a pretty decent lunch so I was gonna skip the side myself. So I asked the server out of curiosity, how much they would take off the bill if we didn't get fries. She told me a buck on a 15 dollar item. Well, that got me going, so I asked how much it would cost for me to order a side of fries. 4 bucks she replied. Now I'm in the zone. So I asked if she thought it was greedy to charge customers 4 dollars for an item, then only take one dollar off if they didn't want an item? I bet you can't guess what the response was. Of course, it was the I don't set the prices routine. Here's the kicker. This lady was the manager on duty at the time.

So I said well, I might as well get fries with my burger. So I ordered my usual mile high with fries. What happened next just bugged the living ____ out of me & it was the same exact thing which happened to my friend earlier in the week. When they brought out the burger & fries. The Fries had been micro waved. I don't care who you are, or what restaurant business you run. If you are charging 15 dollars for a damn burger & fries, then that burger & fries better be hot & it better be fresh, not crap that's been sitting in a pan for two hours then microwaved for your own lazy convenience. This was the Carencro location. That was the Ambassador location. I attempted to catch up with one of the owners at the Verot School location, or get a lead on how to get ahold of them & was told in no uncertain terms they ain't interested. They're way too busy getting a couple of NEW locations open to speak to a customer who's been supporting them since they were pooping yellow. I bet one of those owners will wish they had taught their managers how to help solve problems instead of exacerbating them. I don't give Fat Pat's another year to be open if they are gonna charge like they do & pull this kind of crap & then treat their longest supporting customers like that. There's more to the story, but just suffice it to say, you might think twice about giving them any business any longer since they obviously don't care about you, or anyone else.
Guess I never really noticed since I was never a huge fan of the food. I always thought the pricing was high but it's been high everywhere that last few years. It was always one of our spots for the baseball team along with Walk-On's in Broussard after tournaments. Now that we don't play local, Fat Pat's is just an after thought. Our trip to the Breaux Bridge location was after a game and the first time at any location this year.

Now that we have moved away from local teams & never play local, we have some new spots. If we play east, our spot is Off The Hook for a quick meal. They started in Thibodaux and now have locations from Hammond to Houma. Hoping they move this way soon.

Heading to Ole Miss this weekend so currently searching for food spots.

Been to Shane's a couple of times. Those Quesadilla burgers are not for me, but his wings are fantastic. I love what they did to the place, and the service was great. He's going to be very successful.

Speaking of Shane, did y’all see that he’s opening a new spot on Johnston past University going towards downtown? Someone more knowledgeable of the area could probably tell what the building used to be. Looks like it’s gonna be one of those Mac and cheese bowl places. I was curious how well his other restaurant is doing to already be opening something new.
