Louisiana Athletics and the Ragin' Cajuns Athletic Foundation is proud to announce the launch of the Cajuns Edge Fund, a bold new initiative that positions the University of Louisiana at the forefront of a historic transformation in college athletics. This announcement follows the finalization of the House v. NCAA settlement, which paves the way for universities to directly share revenue with student-athletes for the first time in NCAA history.
Beginning July 1, 2025, schools across the Sun Belt Conference and other NCAA institutions will be permitted to distribute up to $20.5 million annually to student-athletes, in addition to existing scholarships, third-party NIL earnings, and other benefits. While Louisiana Athletics will not reach the full cap, it is committed to implementing a budget-neutral revenue share model for the upcoming fiscal year.
"This is a new day in college sports," said Dr. Bryan Maggard, Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics. "We've spent the past year preparing for this moment, and we're ready to support our student-athletes in a way that aligns with our values and competitive goals."
To support this model, Louisiana Athletics is launching the Cajuns Edge Fund under the Ragin' Cajuns Athletic Foundation (RCAF). This fund will allow fans, donors, and local businesses to contribute directly to the revenue-sharing initiative while receiving tax-deductible benefits, RCAF Priority Points, Investor Rankings, and exclusive membership perks.
Key Highlights of Cajuns Edge:
Direct Revenue Sharing: Beginning in 2025–26, Louisiana student-athletes will receive direct financial support through this initiative.
Streamlined Donor Experience: Contributions to Cajuns Edge will count towards the donor's RCAF membership and any corresponding benefits associated with the Total Investment Model.
NCAA Compliance: It is now permissible for UL to directly share revenue with student-athletes. However, student-athletes can also continue to benefit from third-party NIL deals, now regulated through the new NIL Go platform.
"Our mission remains unchanged—to support UL being a nationally prominent Division I athletics program," said Trey Frazier, Executive Director of the RCAF. "We will continue to support our programs and help inspire elite performance and achieve greatness every day."
Louisiana Athletics is committed to transparent, informative, and honest communication with its supporters as it navigates this historic transition.
