No, I surely do not. Only a listing of names.

I want to see Deggs succussed because I'm a baseball fan. I was very excited when he became our HC. I have to admit that his past year was a head scratcher to say the least. Then the end of the season mass exit. That makes me question things even more.

Dont come tell me that this is college sports these days with NIL. If you do, I will ask you what player on this past team left due to NIL? Closest one is maybe Yuhasz. I dont believe that he got a bunch of money. I think he just wanted the SEC opportunity and I hope it works out for him.

What happens next year? I can say that my mind is made up. Another season like this year and its time to part ways. Will we, I have no idea. If we dont, it will feel like "Fish 2.0".

I hope for a very successful 2026. I too want to walk into the gates of Omaha like we were promised.

    Just a reminder…

Under Coach Robe, there were 3 instances of back to back years with an overall losing record.

1995-1996 overall record of 46-57 (after taking over a team that won 41 games in 1994)
    2008-2009 overall record of 57-59
    2011-2012 overall record of 54-57

By your rationale here, Robe should have been fired 3 different times.

I dont recall ever having a mass exit of players during Robe era. Again, dont come tell met that is college athletics now.

I never said fired. Please correct me if I'm wrong but I'm 99.9% sure next year is a contract year. I was implying that his contract not be extended.

It's college athletics now. Of course Robe never had to deal with this crap. Again, some of you have a short memory. Do ya'll even remember the 2013-2015 teams? That was ALL DEGGS. There were kids on the 2015 team that he recruited that he convinced to stay here as opposed to following him to Sam Houston. That's a fact. He was 1000% loyal to Robe. Unlike some recent hires that came and went.

After the horrible 2012 season under Robe, had it not been for Matt Deggs, God only knows how far this program would have fallen. For people to even suggest that this man is on the hot seat is beyond ignorant.

I did a CTRL + F on this entire thread and didn't see one mention of a hot seat. My only comment was that the way the season ended along with swirling rumors from during the season as well as the exodus warrants skepticism. I think you're reaching.

He is 100% not currently in a hot seat.

Regardless of comments on a fan message board, Matt Deggs is going to be given ample time to turn this around. I think even the majority of people who believe is seat should be hot know this. UL has operated this way for years, and I don’t see that ever changing. Deggs has shown he can rebuild a program. His continued success as a a coach will be determined by his ability to adjust to the current state of college athletics. People said the money just wasn’t here, and Coach White proved them wrong. Our conference mates are getting the job done in this new era. He decides his own fate.

The problem is not the “fans who want him to fail.” Skepticism is healthy. Too many of yall fall in love with the coaches we hire.

The problem is this (dare I say) cult like following that Deggs has from a small group of former players. And yes, some of our fans fall into that category too.

That group refuses to acknowledge his short comings and the rest of the fan base can’t stand it. The whole story is, Deggs has been in a regional 3/6 (full) years in his stint as Cajun skipper. Yes, he made 3 in a row. Huge accomplishment. But if we’re being honest, only one of those teams had a real chance to advance out of the regional. Again, not saying he can’t coach, but if the stated goal is Omaha, we’ve not come close yet heading into year 7. He also made that run with a generational talent, probably a top 5 ever Cajun in DeBarge.

He’s also done plenty behind the scenes that raise eye brows. From his “all or nothing” team building strategy to playing favorites based on life style choices to his hiring practices; people have taken notice. And the voices that I’ve seen saying these things are not malcontents on a message board or social media app.

I love Cajun baseball and I want to win. I want to win big. I want to take my kids to Omaha to experience the incredible feeling of making a run like we did in 2000. So yea, when it’s obvious things are headed in directions that don’t lead to the final 8, I’m going to be skeptical. That’s not “wanting to fail.” That’s not falling in love with the coach and knowing exactly what the mission is here.

Interesting that you consider 17 games and the season being cancelled as a “full season”.
