I donate already but that may stop soon. The members of the Krewe Allons or whatever it called that skims money off the top to host these events can move the needle. Average fans donating moves the needle now your asking us to work when they have paid staff that's doesn't even work. No thanks.
There is a reason it has changed. I don't remember what the correct name is now. Maggard is doing his job, raising money for football and MBB, the two programs bring in the most conference interest. I have no problem with this, that is how it's done at most major universities. I love baseball, but I fully understand that others will have to help out. All programs need more NIL, and there are people that are working on it. Just not enough in my opinion. But I'm not the one _____ing here either.
If this administration wants more out of this fanbase, they are going to have to show them more. I have donated to NIL efforts in the past and attended one of the suppers at Drago's. I have asked on this site who is running the collective currently and can't get a straight answer. Now supposedly the name has changed, but we don't know what to. You Google Krewe Allons, and the second link brought up is from the announcement of the collective in 2023 that has a broken link to their site. The first link is to their Twitter which hasn't been updated since April. The third is to the Facebook which hasn't been updated since May. The fourth link is to the Instagram which hasn't been updated since October of 2024. Zero mentions on any of the socials of a rebranding to something else or new links to give. What are our measurable goals with NIL? Could someone not in the know tell me? How much are we looking to raise for the four sports that draw the most attention: baseball, football, basketball, and softball? I'm sure members of the Diamond Club, Rebounders Club, or Quarterbacks Club might be able to tell me, but could anyone else? Why would people give money to an organization they can't name, don't know who is in charge of, has no visible, measurable goals, and does not appear to be active based on their web presence. Try and redirect your search by just Googling Ragin Cajuns NIL, and you will get the same article from 2023 with a dead link. If you search under fans on the Ragin Cajuns website, you can find the website for Krewe Allons, which mentions nothing of a name change/rebrand. I am far from someone who could move the needle for us financially, but I would be willing to do my part if we could show some semblance of a vision and didn't appear to be completely rudderless. Until then, I'll just keep being one of the "fans" you speak of who supports with season tickets/my attendance and keeps on wishing for brighter days.
If the people in charge want to take the thoughts and prayers approach to addressing how far behind we are, I will return the same energy in my support.
And what? If the coach told him to do that then the decision is his right? Isn't that her club? So, like the Diamond Club, Rebounder Club or QB Club? I donate to two of these annually and will probably try the Rebounders again. My point, give where the coach directs you and where it is needed. This is nothing new in my years being around college athletics and VO knows this has he's been involved with helping me raise money for Football when Hudspeth was coaching was here and he raised money for track before that time.. I bet you didn't know that right? Either way, I've been at it off and on for a number of years. The whole NIL deal is not my favorite subject, and it seems there are major concerns here. I may try and attend another of Coach Deggs presentations to get update on what is going on.
The reason coach wants donations to the various clubs (rebounders, diamond, qb, etc) is they control where the money goes. They can use it to supplement their assistants pay, for recruiting activities or anything they need for the program. There have been numerous comments in the past about Marlin not fundraising, but he had the most money donated to his club versus any other sport.
The new vehicle for NIL is the Cajun Edge fund. Donations are now tax deductible versus Krewe Allons which was not tax deductible. In addition, you get RCAF points for donations to the Edge fund.
You were not at the event BM and RCAF put together in May at First Horizon boardroom to fundraise for basketball NIL. Since you were not there, you did not receive the follow up calls from BM for donations. That was the event where the goal was established based on what QW indicated he needed for the players. The money was needed prior to summer school kicking off the beginning of June. The amount raised at that event ensured QW was able to get all of his recruits enrolled in summer school. The amount raised was 4X compared to last years basketball NIL budget. The amount raised was 7X what baseball NIL budget has been.
I ended my Krewe Allons win with 10 and will contribute to individual sports. Krewe Allons seems to be a great idea, but was just a band aid until the house settlement. It took a week to get a response from Krewe Allons. Heard it may be going away, but who knows because there is no communication on it. Does anyone even know who works at or runs Krewe Allons anymore?
