Both teams had distractions going into the game. Marshall's was much publicized, for obvious reasons, and ours much more internal, as I'm willing to bet it was already known that week which players were bolting and some already had destinations.
Marshall's entire team was motivated like hell, fueled by the drama of their administration, to win that game for their coach. Even though many of them knew they'd be leaving, they wanted badly for Coach Huff to go out on top, a big middle finger to the university leadership that jerked him around.
Meanwhile, we had several guys playing not to get injured so they could capitalize on their new "NIL" payday. They couldn't wait for that game to be over.
Feel like we are gonna be better on the Line this year. Had a lot of young guys get playing time last year because of injuries. If we stay healthy they can be really good.
Like I said, teams aren't gonna load the box on us. Only Missouri and JMU can match us on the outside. Missouri because they have the talent to man press and JMU because they are so good upfront they can play a 4-2-5. Every other team is gonna slide someone over to help in coverage.
Linebackers won't be able to camp out in the gap. They'll be playing a few yards back to stop the big chunk plays. Which is fine. I love a good ground game with 5 or 6 yards a carry. As long as we control the clock and win.
The floor for this team is 8-4.
I think we win 10.
