Maggard has only failed in one aspect. Keeping Marlin far too long.

He has seemingly hired the best coach in the athletic department with Coach White.

Now he needs to find the funds to finish all of our capital facility projects. Likely $25M in more funding needed for the Clubhouse ($6M), baseball scoreboard ($2M) and football Jumbotron ($10-12M).

JMO, to be competitive we need construction projects ongoing every day.

The fact that many Cajun fans wanted Matt Deggs 6 years ago is irrelevant. It’s a different world now. If he can’t fundraise for NIL for his program like Coach White has shown can be done at UL, the game will have left him behind. Despite some fans’ displeasure with him currently, this university has shown time and time again that, if nothing else, he will be given ample time to turn this around. If he will be able to do so is up to him. This offseason has not been encouraging. We’ll see.

IMHO all of that needs to be fixed, they are valid complaints. But we don’t have an unlimited budget to address everything that needs to be corrected.

Facility upgrades will last us for 30 years or so. So if Maggard can accomplish everything we’ve seen in the facility outlay he will have been an ultra successful AD.

We do not have an unlimited fanbase to tap into to grow monetary support. I feel as though we have forgot who our base is, but in order to progress we need to raise funds somehow.

All in all, his time here as AD has been successful.

What happened to the days when a company would sponsor the scoreboard (and id assume video boards now) and pay bulk of the cost in exchange for their logo being on it. Pepsi and coke used to as well, just for switching to their product at concessions
